Press conference demanding cancellation of Jubo Dal's 'pocket committee' in Panchagarh

The renounced and persecuted leaders and activists of Panchagarh Sadar Upazila and Municipality Jubo Dal have called the newly announced committee one-sided and a 'pocket committee' and demanded its cancellation. A press conference was held at the Panchagarh Press Club hall on Sunday (November 16) afternoon to demand this. The event was organized under the banner of renounced and persecuted leaders of Panchagarh Municipality and Sadar Upazila Jubo Dal.
Nur Islam Dipu, member secretary of the recently dissolved convening committee of Panchagarh Municipality Jubo Dal, read out a written statement at the press conference. Bashirul Islam, convener of the recently dissolved Sadar Upazila Jubo Dal committee, Mainul Islam, convener of the recently dissolved municipal Jubo Dal committee and other leaders were present at the time.
In a written statement, Nur Islam Dipu alleged that a new committee of 5 members of Panchagarh Sadar Upazila and Municipal Jubo Dal was announced by the center on November 13, which is completely unilateral and unconstitutional. He claimed that the opinions of local renunciation leaders were not taken into account in approving these committees and the procedural rules were not followed.
He said that according to the party rules, the committees of the Upazila and Municipal Jubo Dal should be approved by the district and sent to the center. But in reality, it has been seen that the candidate of Paddy Sheesh in Panchagarh-1 constituency contacted the center and used his own influence to get this committee approved. As a result, the renunciation, the persecuted and the workers who participated in the movement and struggle of the past have been completely deprived.
Dipu further alleged that the people with whom the new committee was formed were not that involved in the politics of the Jubo Dal. Many of them were associated with the politics of Chhatra Dal and Swechchhasebak Dal in the past. According to the party constitution, to be included in the Jubo Dal committee, one has to be involved in the organization's politics for three years, but he claimed that the new committee members do not have that qualification.
Dipu also demanded that the announced committee be immediately canceled and a new committee be formed with the resignations and persecuted leaders and activists. He said that if the committee is not canceled within the next three days, the Jubo Dal leaders and activists will be forced to launch a tough movement.
Journalists from various local media were present at the press conference.
