Jamaat-e-Islami's central Majlish-e-Shura member and Sylhet district Amir Maulana Habibur Rahman has faced severe criticism on social media for his controversial remarks about the government. He later apologized for his remarks, but the controversy did not stop.
He made remarks against the government at a protest rally organized in Sylhet last Thursday to protest the increase in the prices of fuel oil, gas and commodities. After his remarks were spread on social media, widespread discussion and criticism began.
Later, in a post on Facebook, Habibur Rahman said that some of the words used in his speech were not correct and if anyone was hurt by it, he is sincerely sorry.
However, even after the apology, the reaction in the political arena continues. Especially, the BNP has strongly criticized his remarks.
In the viral video, he is seen making harsh comments about the government, which has created new tension in the political arena. Although he later apologized, the controversy over the matter is ongoing.
