Bangladesh seems to have regained their lost confidence after returning to the familiar conditions of Mirpur. The Tigers were whitewashed in their last tour of Pakistan. However, this time, Liton Das' team is on a mission of revenge at home. Bangladesh ignored Pakistan in the first T20 of the series, winning by 7 wickets.
Pakistan was under pressure from the start after losing the toss and electing to bat first. Taskin Ahmed dismissed Sayeem Ayub in the second over of the innings. After that, Mohammad Haris, Salman Ali and Hasan Nawaz also returned quite quickly. The visitors lost 4 wickets for 41 runs in the power play. Fakhar Zaman continued to fight at one end amid the batting collapse. However, he was run out and stopped at 44 runs. Mohammad Nawaz and Khushdil Shahrao failed in the middle order. In the end, despite a 33-run partnership with Abbas Afridi, Pakistan were all out for 110 runs. Mustafizur took 2 wickets for just 6 runs in 4 overs. Taskin took the highest 3 wickets.
In reply, Bangladesh were in trouble at the beginning of the innings when they came out to bat. Tanjid Tamim returned in the first over, then captain Liton Das was also out for just 1 run. The hosts were in trouble after losing 2 wickets for just 7 runs. However, Parvez Emon and Towhid Hridoy batted brilliantly and took control of the match. Bangladesh took control of the match by adding 73 runs for the third wicket. Hridoy was out for 36 runs off 37 balls, but Emon reached his fifty. The young opener led the team to victory by remaining unbeaten on 56 runs off 39 balls. Zaker Ali remained unbeaten on 15 runs with him.
The dominance of Bangladesh bowlers was noticeable throughout the match. Mustafizur Rahman in particular seemed to have regained his old form. His slower and cutters made the Pakistan batsmen suffer. Taskin was aggressive, Tanjim and Mehedi also made important contributions.
Bangladesh took a 1-0 lead in the series with this win. The way the Tigers defeated Pakistan without paying attention will undoubtedly give the team extra confidence in the next match of the series.
