'Bringing in a foreign coach won't change everything; local coaches are also capable' – Taskin

Following a heavy defeat to Zimbabwe in the opening match of the tri-nation ODI series, Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed expressed his disappointment with the team's performance. Amidst the ongoing discussions regarding the appointment of a foreign coach, he also spoke in support of the capabilities of local coaches.
In the post-match press conference, Taskin remarked that personal achievements—such as taking three or five wickets—bring no satisfaction if the team does not win.
Taskin had claimed three early wickets against Zimbabwe, but he believes that a 150-run partnership between Craig Ervine and Brendan Taylor during the middle overs proved to be the turning point of the match.
The pacer also questioned the tendency to blame coaches whenever the team fails.
Taskin stated that the arrival of a foreign coach would not automatically solve all problems. The fundamental aspects of cricket remain the same, regardless of whether a coach is local or foreign. He noted that members of Bangladesh’s current coaching staff have also played cricket at a high level and are fully capable of fulfilling their responsibilities.
According to him, local coaches are often criticized when the team loses, yet they rarely receive the credit they deserve when the team performs well.
Pointing out that the pitch was favorable for batting, Taskin mentioned that Bangladesh had the opportunity to get back into the game by building a substantial partnership, but the batters failed to capitalize on it.
He added that the absence of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who could not play due to a fever, was a setback for the team. Nevertheless, Taskin expressed full confidence in the capabilities of the players who took the field.
Bangladesh lost the match by 99 runs; in response to Zimbabwe’s total of 271, Bangladesh was bowled out for 172.
