Comparing Tarek Rahman to former President Ziaur Rahman, Chief Whip of the National Parliament Md. Nurul Islam Moni stated that it would be more appropriate to refer to him as "another Zia" rather than "Tarek Zia."
The Member of Parliament for the Barguna-2 constituency made these remarks during an exchange with journalists at the Barguna Circuit House on Saturday afternoon (October 17).

Nurul Islam Moni noted that Tarek Rahman strives to understand the struggles faced by ordinary people. He travels through rural areas to learn about the challenges people encounter and initiates various programs aimed at helping them become self-reliant.
Drawing a comparison between the political stances of Sheikh Hasina and Tarek Rahman, the Chief Whip asserted that the current Prime Minister prioritizes nation-building over the politics of vengeance.
Highlighting the government's social safety net programs, he mentioned a plan to bring 5 million (50 lakh) impoverished and vulnerable families under a "family card" scheme, which would provide them with a monthly assistance of 2,500 Taka.

He also highlighted initiatives such as mid-day meals for children, the provision of free textbooks, the expansion of technical education, and government support for women pursuing higher education.
Praising the various developmental initiatives undertaken by former President Ziaur Rahman, Nurul Islam Moni remarked that the current Prime Minister is similarly dedicated to improving the living standards of the common people.
During the discussion, he also called for the preservation of religious harmony and spoke about government grants and holidays in observance of Durga Puja.
