Following Pakistan’s victory over India in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took to social media to congratulate the team. However, his post has triggered a wave of trolling and mockery. Some users sarcastically demanded that a national holiday be declared, while others mocked the celebration by comparing this win to a World Cup victory.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the Pakistan team on their four-wicket win. He also thanked Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and his team for preparing and supporting the players.

For many, the Prime Minister’s enthusiasm seemed excessive. On social media, several users remarked that the victory was being celebrated as if Pakistan had won a major international title.

One user sarcastically suggested, "Declare a national holiday tomorrow," while another asked when the victory parade would take place. Some cricket fans even mocked the win by drawing comparisons to an ODI World Cup triumph.

The Hong Kong Sixes is a shortened, six-over-per-side cricket tournament. Although it is sanctioned by the ICC, it is not on par with the major, mainstream international cricket competitions. This is precisely why the Prime Minister’s exuberant reaction to the win against India has become a subject of discussion.

Meanwhile, some Pakistani supporters have also criticized the Prime Minister for such promotional posts, pointing to the country’s ongoing economic and political challenges.
