A new controversy has emerged in India following Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan’s act of worship at the Kedarnath Temple. Religious leader Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi has issued a *fatwa* (religious decree), declaring her actions to be in violation of Islamic Sharia. He has also advised the actress to repent and seek forgiveness.
On October 25, Sara Ali Khan visited the Kedarnath Temple in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. A video of the actress waiting in line alongside other devotees to offer prayers went viral on social media, sparking widespread discussion.
According to a report by the Indian news outlet News18, Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi released a video statement regarding the incident. He asserts that, under Islamic Sharia, it is not permissible for Muslims to visit places of worship belonging to other religions to perform acts of worship or religious rituals.
The Maulana stated that several young Muslim men had approached him with questions about the matter. In response, he expressed his opposition to Sara’s act of worship at the temple and urged her to repent and seek forgiveness.
However, Sara Ali Khan has a long-standing connection with Kedarnath. She spent a significant amount of time there in 2017 while filming the movie *Kedarnath*, and has visited the temple on several occasions since then.
The film *Kedarnath*, directed by Abhishek Kapoor and released in 2018, featured the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput alongside Sara Ali Khan. At the time, Sara had also shared her positive experiences from the film's shoot on social media.
