Students held a joyous procession at Islami University (EB) after Awami League's student organization Chhatra League was banned for its alleged involvement in terrorist activities.
On Wednesday (October 23) night, on the call of the anti-discrimination student movement, a procession took place from the Zia intersection of the campus and went through the main gate to the market adjacent to the campus and gathered in front of the administration building.
In the procession, the students chanted slogans such as 'This moment the news came, Chhatra League has been banned', 'Dharo Dari maro pull, Chuppu hobe Khan Khan', terrorist hideout, this will not happen in Bengal'.
In the rally, the students said, "We have seen how the Chhatra League tortured the students in different ways from 2008 to 2024, raped the mothers and sisters, threw the students out of the hall, harassed the administration in different ways, and killed the students in the last movement of 24. His trial has been by banning the Chhatra League from the soil of Bengal. Dictatorships have fallen into the ditch that history has witnessed. At this time, the issues of Logi Baithar Tandab on October 28, 2006, torture on custody on May 5, 2013, the murder of Abrar Fahad highlighted the issues of BCL's involvement.
In the rally, EB coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement SM Sweet thanked the interim government for banning Chhatra League and said, 'Chatra League has been banned today by law. Which fulfills one of our 5 point demands. Besides, the Mujibist constitution i.e. the constitution of 1972 should be canceled and a new constitution should be written. President Chuppu of the fascist constitution must be deposed within this week. In light of the spirit of the coup and the spirit of the July Revolution, a new proclamation of the Republic must be issued within this week in the construction of the twenty-fourth Bangladesh. On the basis of that and on the basis of consensus of all political parties the state will be run. The last three elections (2014, 2018, 2024) should be declared invalid. These demands should be executed immediately. On the contrary, if anyone tries to undermine our demands, we will resist them from the streets.
After the assembly, the students distributed sweets among themselves.
Incidentally, this student organization of the ousted Awami League has been accused of 'killing' students and 'endangering the lives' of many people and being involved in 'terrorist' activities at various times during the quota reform and government overthrow movement.
According to the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2009, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification on Wednesday listing it as a 'terrorist entity'.
