BGB seizes huge quantity of Indian liquor in night operation

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 71 ownerless bottles of foreign liquor from the border area of Durgapur, an upazila bordering Netrokona. The seized liquor includes 47 bottles of ‘Mansion House’ and 24 bottles of ‘Signature’ brand of Indian liquor. These will be handed over to the Narcotics Control Department later.
Netrokona Battalion (31 BGB) Commander Lt. Col. ASM Kamruzzaman (PBGM) confirmed this information in a press release sent at 4:45 pm on Wednesday (November 26).
The liquor was seized from the Durgapur border area around 7:30 pm the previous day on Tuesday.
The 31 BGB commander said that based on its own intelligence information, an eight-member special patrol team of Naluapara BOP (Border Observation Post) conducted an anti-narcotics operation.
During the operation, a total of 71 bottles of various Indian brands of liquor were seized from an area called Gopalpur in Durgapur Union, approximately 300 yards inside Bangladesh from the border pillar 1160/8-S in the area under the responsibility of the BOP.
The BGB official further said that the seized liquor will be handed over to the Narcotics Control Department through regular legal processes.
