The Coastal Vet Society’s 7th Annual Conference concluded at PSU

The 7th Annual Conference of ‘The Coastal Vet Society Bangladesh’ was held today (October 25) at the TSC Conference Hall of Patuakhali University of Science and Technology (PUS).
The day-long conference was held in a festive and knowledge-seeking atmosphere, where various aspects of the important role of veterinary science in the sustainable development of coastal regions and livestock protection were highlighted. The theme of this year’s conference was— “Strengthening the effective role of veterinary science in the protection of coastal biodiversity and livestock.”
The program was inaugurated by PSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam. He said,
“The coast of Bangladesh is not just a geographical boundary, it is the heartbeat of our national life. Agriculture and livestock are facing existential crisis due to the adverse effects of climate change. In such a situation, veterinary scientists become the real protectors of this region. We can build a sustainable and prosperous coastal economy by protecting animal health, increasing productivity, and providing services to the doorsteps of farmers.”
He also said,
“This conference is not just an event, but it is the beginning of a future journey. A new scientific chapter must be built by combining food security, climate tolerant breed development, disease prevention, and human values.”
Pro-Vice Chancellor of Paviprabir Prof. Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan, Treasurer Prof. Md. Abdul Latif, Registrar Prof. Dr. Md. Iktiar Uddin, Dean of ANSVM Faculty Prof. Dr. Khondaker Jahangir Alam, Barisal District Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman and Executive Director of Rural People's Development Organization Zakir Hossain.
Convener of the conference organizing committee, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ruhul Amin, delivered the welcome speech thanking the participants, guests and supporting institutions.
The keynote address was presented by Professor Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam of Bangladesh Agricultural University. He highlighted the importance of sustainable innovation, modern veterinary technology and environmentally friendly livestock management for livestock development in coastal areas.
About 200 researchers, teachers and professionals from various universities, research institutions, Livestock Directorates, private organizations and industries participated in the conference.
Various researches on animal health, food safety, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), vaccination and livestock production were presented through oral and poster presentations, which created an opportunity for knowledge exchange among the participants.
In the closing session, Member-Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Khalil (Senior Scientific Officer, FDIL, Barisal) proposed the vote of thanks.
The entire program was presided over by the President of The Coastal Vet Society Bangladesh, Prof. Dr. Md. Ahsanur Reza.
This conference, successfully held in collaboration with the PBV administration and various pharmaceutical companies, became a new commitment to further accelerate the development of the coastal livestock sector through lively discussions, research presentations and constructive exchange of views.
