India has commented on the upcoming national elections in Bangladesh. At a regular press briefing at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on Friday (October 31), India's spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India hopes that the elections in Bangladesh will be free, fair, impartial and participatory.
Business India journalist Yeshi Seli asked Randhir whether India expects the Awami League to participate in the national elections next year and whether the elections will be fair or not. To this, Randhir Jaiswal replied, "We expect the elections in Bangladesh to be free, fair, inclusive and participatory."
This makes it clear that India is emphasizing the importance of peaceful and participatory elections in Bangladesh, although it did not comment directly on any political party.
