After the formal meeting in Delhi, Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will leave for Mauritius on the same flight on April 9.
According to BBC Bangla, the top diplomats of the two countries will complete the journey of about seven to eight hours together on a commercial flight of Air Mauritius at 8 am on Thursday.
According to diplomatic analysts, traveling together for such a long time outside the formalities carries a positive message in the relations of the two countries. It will create an opportunity to discuss important and unresolved bilateral issues in an informal atmosphere.
After reaching Delhi on April 7, after the scheduled meeting, Dr. Khalilur Rahman will go directly to Mauritius from there. He will participate in the 9th 'Indian Ocean Conference' to be held there. Jaishankar will also be present at the same conference.
It is worth noting that this international conference is being organized by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the Delhi-based think tank India Foundation. The organization's president is Ram Madhav.
Analysts believe that this visit and joint journey can bring new momentum to Dhaka-Delhi relations. Especially important issues like border killings, water sharing of Teesta and Ganga, and visa complications can gain importance in the discussions.
According to them, this 'sky diplomacy' of the two foreign ministers can play an important role in guiding Bangladesh-India relations in the future.
