New tension has arisen over the entry of a group of Israeli settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem. The local administration claims that they entered the mosque compound in the presence of security forces and conducted various activities.
According to the Jerusalem Governorate, several groups entered the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surrounding areas on Wednesday morning. They patrolled there and performed their religious rituals. It has been alleged that Israeli security forces ensured their security throughout the entire time.
The Palestinian side alleged that many worshippers were prevented from moving and praying during this time. According to them, such entry and activities in the Al-Aqsa compound increase religious sensitivity and further complicate the situation.
Such incidents surrounding Al-Aqsa Mosque have raised new concerns amid the ongoing unrest in the Middle East. According to analysts, if tensions increase over this holy site, it could also have an impact on the security situation.
