Netanyahu Leaves New York Hours After UN Speech

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu left New York just hours after addressing the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. His brief visit was marked by protests outside the UN headquarters and walkouts by delegates inside the assembly hall.
Netanyahu arrived in New York on Thursday (September 24). After delivering his speech at the UN and holding a few diplomatic meetings, he departed for Israel. No specific reason was disclosed for his hasty return. While Israeli media speculated that the visit was cut short for security reasons, this has not been officially confirmed.
Following his speech, Netanyahu met with leaders from Paraguay, Panama, and Bolivia. During these discussions, he urged them to join the "Abraham Accords" to deepen their ties with Israel. According to the published itinerary, he also met with the President of Argentina.
Meanwhile, protests took place in New York surrounding his UN visit. Demonstrators blocked roads near the headquarters. Citing police sources, CBS New York reported that approximately 100 people were taken into custody; later, an Al Jazeera report stated that over a hundred individuals had been arrested.
Delegates from several countries walked out of the assembly hall as Netanyahu began his address. There were also calls for his arrest in New York. Although City Council member Zohran Mamdani had previously raised the issue of an International Criminal Court arrest warrant, he later acknowledged that the city authorities lacked the legal power to arrest him unilaterally.
