The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has extended its support to an upcoming rally organized by the INDIA bloc, which demands the resignation of India’s Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Gyanesh Kumar, and the cancellation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process for the electoral rolls. The rally is scheduled to take place on November 1 at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X on Wednesday (October 28), CJP convener Abhijit Dipke expressed his party’s support for the opposition alliance’s movement. He wrote, "Gyanu (CEC Gyanesh Kumar) must go... the nation comes first." According to him, maintaining the neutrality of the Election Commission is essential to ensure free and fair elections.

The CJP alleges that the SIR process risks the exclusion of eligible voters from the electoral rolls. The party argues that the revision process is causing anxiety among the public and poses a threat to their right to vote. The statement emphasizes that in a democracy, the people elect the government through their votes; the government does not get to handpick the voters.

Reports indicate that leaders from the INDIA bloc have previously supported various initiatives by the CJP. For instance, leaders such as Mamata Banerjee, Pinarayi Vijayan, Arvind Kejriwal, and Manik Sarkar reportedly participated in the ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ event. Although the Congress party did not participate directly in that event, Rahul Gandhi spoke out in support of two CJP leaders following their arrests.

By backing this rally, the CJP has highlighted the alignment between its own position and that of the INDIA bloc regarding the neutrality of the Election Commission and the protection of voting rights. However, the available reports do not confirm whether leaders from the CJP will personally attend the rally.
