Victory Day was celebrated with various arrangements in Panchagarh. The day was started with 31 gun salutes in the morning of Tuesday, December 16 at the Collectorate premises. Wreaths were laid at the Martyr Freedom Fighters Memorial with the sunrise.
At this time, Deputy Commissioner Kazi Md. Sayemuzzaman, Superintendent of Police Md. Rabiul Islam, Muktijoddha Sangsad, Press Club and various government and non-government institutions and various political parties and organizations laid wreaths at the Martyr Freedom Fighters Memorial.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner officially hoisted the national flag and took the salute of the parade at the district stadium. In the afternoon, the martyred freedom fighters were felicitated at the government auditorium. Besides, the three-day Victory Fair was inaugurated by the District Commissioner Kazi Md. Sayemuzzaman in the auditorium premises.
On the occasion of the day, writing, recitation, painting competitions based on the Liberation War and cultural programs have been organized for children. Along with this, a friendly football match was also organized. On the occasion of the great Victory Day, Ecopark has been kept open for children free of charge at the initiative of the district administration.
On this occasion, special prayers and prayers were organized in all mosques and other religious places of worship to pray for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyred freedom fighters and for the progress and prosperity of the country. At the same time, arrangements have been made for lighting in all government and private buildings. In addition, high-quality food will be served in the district jail, hospital, children's families and orphanages.
Meanwhile, a marathon procession was organized by the District Chhatra Shibir on the occasion of the great Victory Day. The procession started from Barrister Muhammad Jamir Uddin Sarkar Collegiate Institute ground on Tuesday morning, circumambulated the city on foot and ended at the sugar mill ground.
Jamaat-e-Islami's Panchagarh District Amir Iqbal Hossain, Chhatra Shibir President Rashed Islam, General Secretary Mohibullah Mohib, Municipal Chhatra Shibir President Khurshed Alam and about 1500 leaders and activists participated in the procession.
