In December 2022, the family of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went through a difficult time. Along with his wife being diagnosed with a serious illness, he was arrested by the police. Recalling this critical time, Mirza Fakhrul's daughter Shamaruh Mirza recently posted an emotional post on Facebook.
Shamaruh mentioned in her post how Mirza Fakhrul was arrested while her mother was preparing for surgery. Telling about the difficult days of the family, she wrote, "My mother said, I will not have surgery without your father. After much persuasion, she agreed."
Later, Mirza Fakhrul was granted bail. However, the adversities for the family were not over yet. Mirza Fakhrul and his family went to Singapore for treatment. Mirza Fakhrul himself also received treatment there.
Shamaruh said that their family has been paying the price for Mirza Fakhrul's political sacrifice for a long time. However, the propaganda spread on social media makes them suffer even more.
In the post, Shamaruh also mentioned the sympathy of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and others in the family. He said, “My father has always fought for the people of the country. But our family has had to endure a lot.”
In October 2023, Mirza Fakhrul was arrested again. Shamaruh wrote, “My father was taken to jail again. If I were to write about all this, another chapter would be written.”
He also said that such propaganda against the family saddens him. However, Mirza Fakhrul’s political struggle is a matter of pride for them.
