Rangpur deprived of development as Jamaat gets more seats: Shafiqur Rahman

The party's Amir and opposition leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has alleged that the area is being deprived of development because Jamaat-e-Islami has won more seats in the Rangpur region. He said that the people of Rangpur will not accept such discrimination.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at a public meeting organized at the Bonarpara Kazi Azhar Ali High School ground in Saghata upazila of Gaibandha on Monday (August 10) afternoon.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that if any initiative is taken to take away people's rights, the consequences will not be good. He warned the political opponents that there should be no interference with the rights of the people.

Call to respect the verdict of the people

The Jamaat Amir said that those who take a stand against the people of the country will not be able to maintain the support of the people. He also commented that the people of the country will no longer accept any kind of external influence or reporting.

He said that the young generation has now learned to protest for their rights. No political force has been able to survive for a long time by ignoring the people's opinions and will not be able to in the future either.

On the stand against extortion and corruption

Shafiqur Rahman raised allegations of extortion, corruption and irregularities in various parts of the country at the rally and called for an end to them.

He said that the violence of extortionists must be stopped and effective measures must be taken against corruption. He also said that he would take to the streets repeatedly if necessary in the interest of the country.

Call to avoid violent politics

Cite the issue of the killing of two Shibir activists, the Jamaat Ameer called for avoiding conflict and violence for power. He said that no more children of a family should lose their lives due to political disputes.

The public meeting was presided over by Gaibandha-5 constituency MP Abdul Warez. Various leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami at the central and local levels spoke at the event.

Earlier, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman met the family members of martyred Shibir activist Saifullah Bari and Jamaat activist Salauddin. Later, he visited their graves.
