Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "We are not afraid of anyone's red eyes. We do not want to spy on anyone, and we will not tolerate anyone spying on our country." He said these things at a 10-party election rally held at the Palashbari Government Pilot High School grounds in Gaibandha on Saturday morning.

In the context of the development of the northern region, the Jamaat Ameer said at the rally that the rivers of the northern region have been destroyed in a planned manner. Referring specifically to the Teesta river, he said, "With your support and the grace of God, we will implement the Teesta Master Plan if we get the opportunity. When the life of the river returns, the life of the people of the northern region will also return." In his speech, the emphasis on river-centric development and livelihood-based economy became clear.

Stating his strong stance against corruption and extortion, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “We will stop corruption and extortionists. We do not want to make anyone dependent on allowances; we want to provide work. We want to turn you into wealth.” He reiterated his commitment to create employment and build a self-reliant Bangladesh.

The Jamaat Ameer also assured about quality healthcare and social security. He said, “We love this land. That is why we have not gone anywhere despite hundreds of oppressions. If Allah gives us the opportunity, we want to build the country with you. Especially, we want to ensure the safety of mothers.” His speech conveyed the message of patriotism, stability and standing by the people.

At the end of his speech, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman handed over the election symbols to the candidates of the 10-party alliance for the five parliamentary constituencies of Gaibandha district. It is worth noting that candidates nominated by Jamaat-e-Islami are contesting in all these five constituencies and there are no candidates from any other party in the alliance.

While handing over the symbols, he said, “I have left these five people with you as a deposit. You will return this deposit to us as a gift.” Through his speech, he called for trust and responsibility from voters.
