Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed deep concern over the recovery of an improvised explosive device (IED) or bomb from under the capital's Motijheel Metrorail station. The party's Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, in a statement, strongly demanded an impartial investigation into the incident, the speedy arrest of those responsible and strengthening the security of important installations.

In a statement on Saturday (July 25), the Jamaat leader said that the main purpose of such subversive activities is to create panic in the public mind and destabilize the overall law and order situation in the country. He called on the law enforcement agencies to play the most vigilant and active role in preventing these anti-national activities.

Call for strengthening treatment and security for the injured

In the statement, Mia Golam Parwar expressed his condolences to the pedestrian who was injured by a splinter while defusing the bomb and called for ensuring better treatment for him. Stating that it is the fundamental responsibility of the government to ensure the safety of people's lives and property, he demanded strengthening the security cordon at all populated places in the country, including metro stations.

At the same time, to avoid such heinous acts of sabotage in the future, the Jamaat Secretary General called for the immediate formation of a high-level impartial investigation committee and bringing the planners and implementers under exemplary punishment.
