Indian batsman Karun Nair has set a world record for scoring 542 runs without being out. He achieved this record by remaining unbeaten in four consecutive matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He surpassed former New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin to become the highest scorer in 50-over cricket without being out. Franklin scored 527 runs without being out in 2010.

Nair's journey to create this record began on December 23, 2023 against Jammu and Kashmir. In that match, he was unbeaten on 112 runs. Then, he finished the match against Chhattisgarh on 44 runs without being out. In the next match against Chandigarh, he played a career-best unbeaten innings of 163 runs. He played an unbeaten innings of 111 runs against Tamil Nadu on December 31.

Finally, on January 2, 2024, Karun Nair was dismissed after scoring a century against Uttar Pradesh. In this extraordinary performance of four matches, he set a new world record by scoring 542 runs.

Before Karun Nair, this list was topped by New Zealand's James Franklin (527). Germany's Joshua von Heerden (512) is in third place, followed by Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman (455) and Taufiq Umar (422).

Although Karun Nair was a regular performer in domestic cricket, he could never become a regular in the national team. He played only 6 Tests and 2 ODIs for India. In 2016, he scored a triple century of 303 runs against England, but he was dropped in the next Test.

After a great performance in domestic cricket, Karun Nair got a new opportunity in the IPL. Delhi Capitals added him to the team for Rs 50 lakh.

He has more than 7 thousand runs and 20 centuries in 109 matches in first-class cricket. He has shown his ability by scoring nearly 3,000 runs and 7 centuries in List 'A' cricket.
