Real Madrid took advantage of Atletico Madrid's defeat in the Spanish La Liga to move to the top of the points table. The team won 4-1 against Las Palmas on Sunday. Despite falling behind early in the match, Carlo Ancelotti's men left the field with a big win thanks to Kylian Mbappe's brace and the team's great performance.
Even in the absence of Brazilian star Vinicius Junior, the hosts were surprised by the opponent's Fabio Silva's goal in the first minute. However, Mbappe equalized from the penalty spot in the 18th minute. In the 33rd minute, Lucas Vazquez's easy goal and Rodrigo's pass gave Real the lead. Rodrigo's goal and Ramires' red card for Palamas put Real in a more advantageous position.
Although three goals were disallowed for offside, Real Madrid's attacking play was impressive. Real are top of La Liga with 46 points from 20 matches. Atletico Madrid are second with 44 points and Barcelona are third with 39 points.
