Three villages clash over dominance in Sylhet, 15 including police injured

A clash has occurred between people from three villages over dominance in Sylhet. The clash took place at Temukhi Point in the city around 12:30 am on Wednesday (February 4). The police and the army intervened to bring the situation under control. At least 15 people, including policemen, were injured in the incident.
Shamsul Habib, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jalalabad Police Station, confirmed the matter.
According to police and local sources, a few people from Sahebergaon, Kumargaon and Charugaon villages first started arguing over who could sit on chairs during a road meeting at Temukhi Point. At one stage, it turned into a clash. Tension spread in the area due to the clash that lasted for about an hour and a half.
The police and the army jointly launched a drive to control the situation. Later, traffic on the Sylhet-Sunamganj road was normalized.
OC Shamsul Habib said that clashes broke out between residents of three villages over dominance at midnight. The situation is currently under control and police and army have been deployed in the area.
