The reality of battery-powered rickshaws: advantages or disadvantages?

A new trend has recently emerged in various cities of Bangladesh, which has added new technology to passenger transport—battery-powered rickshaws. However, this transport system has become a cause of public suffering in some cases. Especially in big cities like Dhaka, the increasing number of these rickshaws has increased traffic congestion in the city, and is creating problems for the general public.
The main advantage of battery-powered rickshaws is that they are environmentally friendly, where they are powered by batteries instead of engines. This emits less harmful gases, which causes less pollution to the environment. However, these rickshaws are usually dependent on electricity and can quickly run out of battery on long journeys. For passengers, when these rickshaws run out of electricity on long journeys, they have to stop in the middle of the road, which is becoming another source of annoyance for them.
In addition, the slow speed of these new rickshaws is causing more traffic congestion on the main roads of the city. While the number of cars on Dhaka's roads is increasing, these slow battery-powered rickshaws are slowing down the transport system, leaving pedestrians stranded in traffic jams for hours.
Urban transport experts have said that while the introduction of battery-powered rickshaws has some positive aspects, more attention needs to be paid to proper route control, battery quality and number of rickshaws. They have also suggested that if such a transport system is not managed properly, it will become a cause of greater public suffering.
Meanwhile, the government is taking various initiatives to regularly monitor this transport system and streamline the urban transport system. However, there are mixed reactions among experts about how much benefit it will bring.
The general public hopes that the government will take effective steps to resolve this problem soon, so that they can enjoy the benefits of battery-powered rickshaws, but without causing any problems in their daily movement.
