Leaders and activists have been without homes for 17 long years: Khayyam

For 17 long years, none of the BNP leaders and activists have been able to stay at home. Almost every leader and activist has been either in jail or absconding day after day in false cases, said Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayyam, former president of Rajbari district BNP and former MP. He said this in his speech as the chief guest at the joint public meeting of Chandani Union and Khanganj Union BNP of Rajbari Sadar Upazila organized at the historic Belgachhi Railway Eidgah Maidan on Saturday, November 30.
Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayyam said, today after 17 long years, I am able to appear among you and hold such a public meeting. In these 17 years, I have not been able to come to Chandani and Khanganj. For so long, the leaders and activists of Chandani and Mizanpur Union have not been able to sit together, walk together. No one has been able to stay at home in false cases in the name of every leader and activist. I had to stay in jail day after day, I had to run away.
He also said, I was attacked in Khalifa Patti of Rajbari city under the leadership of Kazi Iradat Ali, an associate of fascist Hasina. I never thought that I would be attacked. On August 5, the huge mass uprising of students and the public led to the fall of Sheikh Hasina's fascist government. This Sheikh Hasina, the leaders and activists of Awami League will never be able to come to the field again. Sheikh Hasina has looted and stolen money in the name of the country's development. She has killed our leaders and activists. This will be judged on the soil of Bengal.
Khanganj Union BNP President Ashraf Hossain Swapan Chowdhury presided over the public meeting and the meeting was moderated by KM Shahadat Hossain, former District BNP Child Welfare Secretary. Also present at the meeting were former District BNP Convener Naeem Ansari, former Member Secretary ABM Munjurul Alam Dulal, Member KA Sabur Shahin, former Chairman of Chandani Union Parishad and Convener of Public Meeting Implementation Committee Md. A. Malek Sikder, District BNP Member Arnab Newaz Mahmud Hrishit, former student leader and prominent media personality More News Managing Secretary Md. Zakir Hossain, along with leaders of the district BNP and its affiliates.
