Man dies in suicide outside UN headquarters

A man has died in a suicide attack near the UN headquarters in New York, the United States. The incident occurred near the intersection of First Avenue and 42nd Street on Thursday evening local time.
The New York City Police Department said that police rushed to the scene at around 6:32 pm after receiving a report that a man had been burned in a fire. He was later rescued and taken to Bellevue Hospital with serious injuries. Doctors declared him dead after being taken to the hospital.
Police have not yet released any details about the identity, motive or reason behind the incident. An investigation has been launched to find out why he took such an extreme decision.
Meanwhile, the US local media New York Post reported that the man had a Tibetan flag with him at the time of the incident. However, the international news agency AFP could not independently confirm the matter.
The UN has not yet responded to requests for official comment on the incident.
Police are investigating the entire incident and are trying to gather more information about the cause and circumstances of the death.
