Finding insufficient cash in his pockets, a group of robbers held a young man captive and forced him to secure an instant loan through a mobile app, subsequently stealing the funds. This unusual crime took place in Chennai, India, where a 21-year-old man named Ajay was abducted. The emergence of this bizarre robbery tactic in the digital age has sparked significant concern among the public.

According to local media and police reports, a gang of robbers intercepted Ajay in a secluded area as he was returning from work. They forcibly took him to an isolated spot and searched his pockets and wallet. Finding far less cash than they had hoped for, the perpetrators became enraged.

Even though they did not find the cash they wanted, the robbers did not let the young man go. Holding him at knifepoint, they seized his smartphone and compelled him to download a mobile application that provides instant loans. They then used his personal documents to apply for an emergency loan, withdrew the funds, and immediately transferred the money into their own accounts.

After securing the money, the criminals abandoned the victim in a remote location and fled. Managing to escape, the young man informed his family and subsequently filed a formal written complaint at the local police station.

The police stated that a case has been registered based on the victim's complaint. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to identify those involved by tracing the bank accounts and digital wallets used for the transfers, as well as by analyzing CCTV footage. Meanwhile, the administration has urged the public to remain vigilant to avoid the risks of being held captive or falling victim to such digital-age robberies.
