Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said that artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging as a big challenge in the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections. It is a modern threat that is more dangerous than conventional weapons. The Election Commission is on alert to prevent any kind of technology-based interference to influence the elections.
He said these things while talking to journalists ahead of a view-sharing meeting organized on the occasion of the elections at the office of the Regional Election Officer in Khulna on Saturday (July 26). The CEC said that the aim of the commission is to conduct the upcoming elections in a peaceful, fair and participatory manner. To this end, a drive will be conducted to suppress terrorism and recover illegal weapons before the elections. He said, “We want transparent elections. All election activities will be conducted in broad daylight, not in the dark of night, so that transparency is ensured.”
The CEC also said that the biggest challenge of the commission in this election is to restore the trust of voters and bring them to the polling stations. The commission is also considering ensuring the participation of women voters in particular as a major challenge. He said that the commission is always trying to prevent any technological interference to influence the elections.
Additional Regional Election Officer of Khulna Division, senior district and upazila election officers were present at the meeting.
